Because I walk it.
I’d built something real — a Pilates & Barre Wellness Studio in Charleston, SC, that I poured myself into and sold for a six-figure windfall. I was ready for the next chapter. New city. New life. Fresh start in San Diego with my then-husband.
Within a year, that picture had completely shattered.
What I didn’t know was the depth to which he was struggling with severe mental health and addiction issues. By the time I understood the full scope of it, he had spent everything. Our savings. And then some — we were $80K in credit card debt.
I found myself in a city where I knew no one. No community. No family nearby. No safety net. Going through one of the most traumatic separations of my life while simultaneously trying to figure out how to rebuild — financially, emotionally, professionally — from the ground up.
I needed healing that could hold all of it at once.
And I also knew, from years of running a successful online fitness and nutrition coaching business, that surface-level solutions weren’t going to cut it.
Because I’d watched that play out too — in real time, with real clients I genuinely cared about. The same meal plans. The same yo-yo dieting cycles we couldn’t seem to break. I immersed myself in neuroscience through an accredited coaching certification program.
